Thunder Down Under!

No, this is not the sound that my thighs make when I walk too briskly, but rather, well me trying to be cute, so sue me. Good luck with suing me btw, because that will about as financially fruitless a pursuit as trying to squeeze blood out of a bag of rocks.
So, anyway...
THUNDER DOWNUNDER!
Sounds kind of scary when you use CAPS and !!!!
So, anyway...
There are afterall samples of thunder in my song Unplug and Australia is referred to as "down under" thus thunder down under and some exciting news.
The music video for Unplug which was shot in Australia and directed by Simon Trevorrow premiered on ABC in Australia on Rage. The video is also currently a featured video on their website.
For now, this is the only place where you can watch the video as the Australian premiere and the US premiere are not in sync with each other, but that's ok. They're quite a few hours ahead of us and the video was born there, so it seems fitting tha they should see it first. Don't worry North America, Your day of glory will come soon enough.
Just an FYI, when I stated that the video premiered on ABC, I'm not referring to that Disney network but rather referring to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Think PBS or BBC but for Australia.

Apparently It's Madonna Week
Alright, I had to. Like a Prayer has come into the discussion, so here is Oh Father.
I think this is one of Madonna's most real heartfelt songs. Sometimes when I hear this it makes me cry.
We won't talk about why unless you have a degree in psychiatry, a comfortable couch and a lot of time on your hands.

Which do you prefer?

I must admit that I am not a Madonna fan.
I know. Gasps of homo horror just reverberated through the blog-o-sphere.
I will also admit that a few of her songs are guilty pleasures.
You never know what's going on underneath my headphones.
After all, Ace of Base, Abba and Britney Spears are all on my ipod.
I probably shouldn't have brought up the subject of madonna.
After all, you can't throw a brick in a homo bar without hitting a madonna fan in the head.
Don't throw a brick in a homo bar, by the way.
It's not a good way to test my theory and they have stricter penalties for hate crimes.
I do have to give some respect to Madonna for pushing the envelope.
However, when her American Life video came out, she caved under pressure to censor herself.
I must say that I think this is a good example of how censorship ruins art.
Check out the two versions of the video and let me know what you think.
American Life Censored:
(the boring version that aired)
American Life Uncensored:
(the edgy interesting version that should have aired)
While we're on the subject of Madonna,
I think the video to What it feels like for a girl, directed by her husband, Guy Ritchie, is brilliant.
Alright, if you throw a brick in a homo bar, you might hit me. NO BRICKS and NO THROWING!

#1 on Logo
YAY! It is with great excitement and a bit of delay that I announce some very wondeful news.
The music video for my song, Open Wide is #1 on Logo's Clicklist thanks to the voting of
fans, friends and random unknown supporters. Well, Whoever you are, Thank You. It is truely mindblowing to be #1 on a national television countdown. I've had #1's on the radio before, but this feels like much more of an accomplishment.
For those of you who haven't seen the video, you can go to Logo's website and view it.
while you're there, you can also vote for it.
:)

I've fallen but I can get up.
As previously posted, Open wide debuted 2 weeks ago on Logo's Click List at #5.
How thrilling is that?
Well, last Friday in my 2nd week on the countdown, I slipped and fell to #5.
Still not too shabby, eh? Top 5 is very respectable.
Well, I have never let something like a tiny slip hold me back or get me down.
No, I'm the kind of girl who will walk uphill with one high heel and a black eye, a missing tooth and a smile.
But...If you feel so inclined to fix my tooth, give me a new pair of pumps and a comfy seat at the top of the chart, then click your way over to Logo and vote like a mofo. Don't be shy honey. The voting is unlimited, so you can click until your hand cramps up. A little carpel tunnel syndrome won't kill you. It will make you stronger and maybe even give you time off from your job to recover and read that Dostoevsky novel you've always been meaning to tackle. Then you can say clever things and be the envy of all your friends. Yeah, you should definitely

Music Video Magic!
I stayed up late last night with Mr. Carpentier and K to watch the Premiere of Open Wide on Logo.
I stated in a previous blog that I don't usually get too excited about accomplishments. It helps me to avoid
a crash and burn following the sugar rush.
Well, Last night, sipping on champagne and watching the video air on national TV, broke through my calm unaffected status and turned me into a squeeling kid, running around with my hands above my head.
If you missed the video last night, I recommend you check it out at the most random location one could imagine my video being posted....
CMT's Website. Your eyes are not deceiving you. That does indeed stand for Country Music Television.
If CMT is not quite your taste,
VH1's website is always a viable option.
The world is full of magical possibilities and choices! Oooh, so the 2nd album is almost done. I go back into the studio on Tuesday for my last session before the studio closes its doors.

Stardust and the Silver Screen

On Saturday K and I caught a matinee of Stardust.
It met and exceeded all my expectations.
Run don't walk to the theater and see this movie.
It is a magical dark fairytale for adults.
I almost cried three times and Robert Deniro doing the Can Can in drag on a pirate ship in the sky is absolutely priceless...oop, I gave a tiny piece away. Hurry and see it before I divulge more secrets.
Sunday I did a show at Pianos with the lovely Maddy Wyatt.
I am still getting to know George he surprised me at a few points in the night.
Thing came out of him that I have never gotten to come out of a guitar on stage.
Other things that I'm used to, were different.
We are in an adjustment phase, getting to know each other's quirks, but I am starting to fall i love with George as I unravel his mysteries.
Tonight is my silver screen debut, well sort of.
It is a screening of the Casey Stratton Documentary at
The Anthology Film Archives.
There is a trailor showing before the film, with me blabbing about being sent to Exodus by my parents with the hopes of turning me straight. Ugh. Am I ready to see myself twelve feet tall? I'm not sure. I guess I'd better get ready, seeing as the music video will be premiering soon.

Sunday
Sunday,
I rollerbladed over to the recording studio and did the final mix for the single version of Unplug + a bonus extended (Reach Out Mix).
I think You're all gonna love it. It's a little different than the stuff on Sirens of Brooklyn.
After the studio, I rollerbladed over to Mister Carpentier's to play the single for him, then hopped back onto my blades and traversed the Brooklyn Bridge, making my way to Union Square. Then I hopped on a train to Queens.
I spent the evening in Astoria working with the other Rob working on the music video, which btw is so close to being done that I can almost hear the cork popping on the bottle of champagne.
I can't wait to relese both of these little babies into the world.

Blah

I am guilty of neglectfulness in blogging. Oh my dear readers, I've been a bizzy bee. Where to begin...
Well, The music video is in the editing process. I have seen two seperate rough cuts and I'm very excited to see the edges rounded out and the little piece of mini-cinema to be ready for mass consumption. You've been chomping at the bit to see it, I'm sure you have. Unfortunately you will have to wait until the fall. Good things come to those who wait, I hear.
I've been doing lots of performing. I went up to Boston and over to New Jersey. This weekend I head to Worcester Massachussettes and find myself in Dayton and Columbus Ohio next weekend. I'm doing some New York performances as well.
I am currently though temporarily homeless as I wait for renovations to be completed on my new apartment. I neglected to mention that I've been living in Queens for the last 2 months in a sublet. I am not a queens boy. I have Brooklyn in my blood. I'm delighted to say that on May 15th I will again become a Brooklyn boy in a cozy new home by my favorite park in New York City. I am going to rollerblade and sun my pale skin to lobstered blissfulness. This is the definition of glamour.
I would like to give a big thank you to Chris for organizing and promoting the performance in North Brunswick, New Jersey. All of you guys were so warm and attentive and I enjoyed chatting with everybody. I was even sent home with a bag of sandwiches. For a starving artist I sure know how to eat. Thanks for indulging my glutenous ways.

Losing it for Art

This last week was full of excitement, stress and more coffee than any human stomach should have to endure. On Friday I sort of had a breakdown if that's what you would call it. Maybe it was a panic attack. I'm not sure.
On Saturday I officially lost my mind and was strapped into a straight jacket. I was thrown around by the nurses pictured here, at one point hitting my head hard against a wall. I realized why the cells are padded and just how hard it is to have mobility and sanity in the confines of a straight jacket.
I will never forget nurse Veronica or Nurse Betty or for that matter the hospital administrator with an iron fist. They thought they could keep me locked up, but they were wrong.

Straight Jacket
I ordered my straight jacket, yesterday.
I'm so excited. I can't wait for it to arrive.
I find it sort of funny that two seperate people called me crazy
on the day of my big purchase.
They don't know the half of it.
